More Christian babbling based on a confused theology
You've heard of a babbling brook? Well, this is a babbling book.
Just like most Christian books about other philosophies this one is full of babbling about Biblical passages and fear that someone dare question their belief system.

I agree with the other reviewer who said, and I paraphrase, "Which book has a bottom line of love and acceptance and which one has the bottom line of despising and rejection?" Hmmm?

Biblical and Logical Expose
Tolle's worldview is really nothing very new--just new packaging and a mega-boost from Oprah. I wrote about 1000 pages against this perspective--pantheistic monism--in the 1980s and early 1990s. But it is still with us, sadly.

Richard Abanes always does solid biblical analysis of new religious movements and teachers. He explains Tolle's worldview, its contradictions, and its opposition to biblical Christianity. Although I don't write too much in this area any more, I am thankful that Mr. Abanes is carrying on the tradition of unmasking spiritual counterfeits. See 2 Corinthians 11:14; 1 John 4:1-6; Colossians 2:8-9.

Didn't Jesus say to judge a tree by its fruit?
I'm a bottom line kinda guy. The bottom line here is who between the author and Mr. Tolle is focused on love and tolerance and who is focused on fear/hate and intolerance? Clearly, if you strongly believe in a devil and and all the utterly fantastic mythology put forth by religious fundamentalists, the author is your guy. But if you're rational, tolerant, and of a loving nature, Tolle is your man. Yes, the author is a clever guy. But as an exceedingly clever guy myself, I can create a logical basis for almost any position.

Those who's belief system is based on fear can take anything they dislike and claim it's a trick of Satan. But in the same way that gravity ALWAYS works in the same way ALL the time, I doubt very much God would allow the universe to operate in such a silly manner (i.e. in a way in which good acts are tricks of the devil and fear is a good thing).

Bottom line? This book is a waste of money when there are so many other books of value by authors who are clearly more thoughtful and intellectually and spiritually honest. Regards.

The New Age movement needs to be answered
Nice, short, concise answer to the dangerous New Age philosophy being pushed by Tolle. It is written in a point- counterpoint style, where Abanes quotes Tolle and then gives the Christian response. It's good to know a little bit of what the New Age movement is about so that we can respond if our friends fall into the trap.

A New Earth Deception
Clearly this author is very much on an ego trip. As a follower of Christ for the past 20 years of my life in no way did I find what Eckart wrote in contridiction to my faith. What the book did do is help me understand the bible more. I think Mr. Abanes needs to become a bit more conscious before passing judgement. Everyone is entitled to believe what they want and what makes him think what he wrote is so right? People just make up your own mind about God and why he has you here. It is on the inside of you. Just listen not to the voice in your head but to the small whisper in your soul.
