Iomega Desktop Hard Drive 500 GB Hi-Speed USB 2.0 External Hard Drive - 33654

My first one worked for a week or so, left it on for a day, turned it off. Turned it on to move my desktop data to my laptop and it worked for about 5 min, then the light goes off, motor runs, and it doesn't work.
Returned it, got another. Copied stuff over seemed fine.
Left it alone for a few months (its my back for goodness sake) so now its out of warranty, and now I plug it into one laptop, it isn't recognized. Plug it into my second laptop, it recognizes it. Back to the first, copy data over, and my laptop got unplugged (battery is dead, hence backing it up), and now nothing can read the drive at all. Out of warranty, big old paper weight. buy anything but this.

This is a 500gb external drive and it works perfectly. It does exactly what it was designed to do.

Sometimes I wish it was smaller and more portable, but...it wasn't designed to be. It gets fairly warm, but not excessively so. No problems with speed or connectivity. No data loss or corruption. No complaints.

I bought 2 of these several months ago for office server backups.They are left on for several days at a time.Other than getting a little warm they are perfect .A great deal at $95.00 at the time.I would say they are a little bulky but for the price you can't beat them.I happen to like the external power and on off switch as I can change them out with out accessing the server to turn the external hard drives off.

I've had this external hard disk for about 3 months now and have had no problems. I don't use it as primary storage, only for backup, so I don't leave it on constantly. What I do is every night, I run a little backup script that copies all the files on my laptop onto the Iomega drive. I don't recommend people use this as a primary storage device, because of the potential for the disk to fail.

I've had my hard drive for about a month now and it has been working perfectly so far. It is small and very quiet but that blue light is pretty bright but you can easily put a piece of tape over it. I transferred my music and movies over with no problems at all. I would definitely recommend this!
